NXT TV Preview (12/19): Black & Gargano Meet Inside The Steel

WWE returns to the WWE Network this evening with the post-TLC edition of NXT TV from Full Sail University in Winter Park, Florida.

WWE.com released the following preview for tonight’s show:

WWE NXT preview, Dec. 19, 2018: Aleister Black and Johnny Gargano meet inside the steel

Aleister Black and Johnny Gargano move past absolution and aim for total annihilation as they combat inside the confines of a steel cage. Plus, Io Shirai & Dakota Kai go up against one-half of MMA’s Four Horsewomen, Jessamyn Duke & Marina Shafir.

Black vs. Gargano II: Caged in

Aleister Black may have won the battle against Johnny Gargano at TakeOver: WarGames II, while also absolving Gargano of his “sins,” but the war rages on. As announced by NXT General Manager William Regal, the fierce rivals will settle their hot-blooded score inside a steel cage this week.

Regal made the announcement after The Dutch Destroyer crashed NXT Champion Tommaso Ciampa’s post-WarGames II victory speech on Dec. 5 to issue a challenge for the black-and-gold brand’s top prize, prompting a displeased Gargano to remind him of their unfinished business. After Ciampa deviously suggested that the two handle their issues inside a steel cage, to which both Superstars agreed, Regal made the bout official.

Will unforgiving steel provide the perfect setting for The Dutch Destroyer to absolve Gargano of his sins for a second time and send a grisly message to The Blackheart, whom Black will challenge for the title at TakeOver: Phoenix? Or will Johnny Wrestling be the one leaving with the last laugh?

Io Shirai & Dakota Kai get their crack at Marina Shafir & Jessamyn Duke

Io Shirai & Dakota Kai will finally get their hands on Marina Shafir & Jessamyn Duke.

After a scuffle at NXT TakeOver: WarGames II, Io Shirai & Dakota Kai will battle Marina Shafir & Jessamyn Duke in what’s sure to be a heated tag team contest on Dec. 19.

Both sides have been at each other’s throats since WarGames II, where they collided during Shayna Baszler’s NXT Women’s Title defense against Kairi Sane. Tensions grew further on the Dec. 5 edition of NXT when Shafir and Duke joined Baszler to inflict a beatdown on The Captain of Team Kick, which was eventually thwarted by Shirai.

Now there will be no disadvantages in the way as Shirai & Kai look to serve Shafir & Duke their comeuppance in a long-awaited tag team match. Will Shirai & Kai find redemption? Or will Shafir & Duke, two highly decorated former MMA fighters and cohorts of Baszler and Ronda Rousey in the Four Horsewomen, leave a lasting impression in their NXT debut?

Feast your eyes on Dominik Dijakovic

Dominik Dijakovic has three words for the NXT Universe: “Feast your eyes.” The towering powerhouse will pull out a chair for the NXT fans this week, as he makes his highly anticipated arrival. With an impressive in-ring résumé to boot, all eyes will be glued on what he brings to the jam-packed black-and-gold table.

The newly recharged Heavy Machinery prepare for action

Before Heavy Machinery battle Kyle O’Reilly & Roderick Strong for the NXT Tag Team Championship on Dec. 26, they’ll oil up their engines for warm-up action.

Last week, The Undisputed ERA learned a thing or two about underestimating the rough-and-tumble duo after Otis Dozovic & Tucker Knight flattened them during an all-out brawl following EC3’s victory over Bobby Fish.

The NXT Universe’s favorite steaks-and-weights-loving duo will assuredly be out to make an appetizer out of their opponents this week before heading into the high-stakes main course later this month. Whoever has the task of stepping in the way of these thrusting dynamos, be warned.
