UFC managed to pickup some major headlines during their UFC 214 show. During the show, fighter Jon Jones defeated Daniel Cormier to win the Light Heavyweight Championship. As if that was not enough to get MMA fans talking, Jones also shocked the world when he decided to call out Brock Lesnar in his post-fight interview. He challenged Lesnar before adding that he would return to MMA and be defeated by someone “40 pounds lighter” than him. Brock Lesnar fired back at Jones not long after the show, and warned him to “be careful what you wish for.” So what is going on with Brock Lesnar in WWE and when will we see this fight in UFC?
In an interview with Live Audio Wrestling, Dave Meltzer decided to shed more light on what will become of the Jones/Lesnar encounter. Unlike when WWE allowed Lesnar to fight at UFC 200 last year, Meltzer claims that the fight likely won’t happen until Lesnar’s WWE contract expires next year. Lesnar was suspended by USADA for one year after testing positive for a banned substance. Despite rumors of Lesnar looking to rejoin UFC soon, USADA recently confirmed that Lesnar has not reentered the testing pool as of yet. From a PR perspective, WWE is said to be hesitant in allowing Lesnar to have the fight as a result of what happened after his UFC 200 victory.
Tonight’s Raw will be followed by another episode of Bring it to the Table on the WWE Network. The show addresses news and events that are occurring within the company. Tonight’s edition of the show is expected to draw a bit of buzz due to some of the topics that will be discussed. The show is advertised to mention Enzo Amore’s backstage heat, Sasha Banks’ personality, a potential Roman Reigns/John Cena match, and the recent issue involving Brock Lesnar and UFC’s Jon Jones, as well as plenty of other topics. The show will be hosted by Peter Rosenberg and will be joined by Corey Graves and JBL.
