In case you missed it, The War Raiders kicked off this Saturday night’s NXT Takeover: Phoenix event with a dominant victory over The Undisputed Era, capturing the NXT Tag Team Championships for the very first time.
In doing so Hanson and Rowe became the first tag team in history to win the heavyweight tag team championships in Ring of Honor, New Japan Pro-Wrestling and WWE — in this case, obviously, for the WWE NXT brand.
A few other key wrestlers have come close to this impressive achievement, which is essentially the modern “triple crown” featuring three of the top four pro wrestling companies in the world currently. Luke Gallows and Karl Anderson have won the IWGP and WWE RAW tag titles; actually, Anderson has also won the NWA Tag Team Championships and Noah’s GHC Tag Team Championships.
The Dudley Boyz (aka Team 3D) have won perhaps more tag titles across the globe than any team ever, although in this case both lack the ROH straps. Bully Ray in his current run has won the relatively new ROH World 6-Man Tag Team Championships, for what that’s worth.
There’s also Davey Boy Smith Jr. who is a former WWE World Tag Team Champion, and has won titles with New Japan, Noah, World of Sport, Stampede, FCW and the NWA.
